The election for the leadership of the Liberian Association has been decided. The election was held on Sunday June 29, 2009 from 3:00pm to 9:00pm. The official results were announced by the election commission chairlady Mrs. Lucia Yallah sometime around 10:30pm eastern time. There were jubilations and dancing as supporters of the Boayue-Fowler team expressed their happiness in winning an election that was deemed by many as very divisive and mean spirited. After the results were announced, the losing team, Gilman-Gardiner was given an opportunity to concede, but they decided to storm out of the hall without giving the community an opportunity to hear from them. The winning team was also given the opportunity to speak to the community. Speaking for the Boayue-Fowler team was the standard bearer Mr. Pei Boayue. He thanked his supporters, and began to reemphasize his vision for the community by talking about keeping his campaign promises. He laid out a very clear and succinct position on being inclusive in his new administration. He also told the crowd that it was time to roll up their sleeves and get to work to move our community forward and to the next level. The night was concluded when the supporters of the winning team were invited to join the Kobbahs as they celebrated their twenty third wedding anniversary at their home.
